Hot Spots

Despite the name, hot spots aren't caused by heat—they're areas of acute skin inflammation that can appear almost overnight. They often develop when a dog constantly licks, scratches, or bites the same spot due to allergies, flea bites, moisture trapped in the coat, or minor skin irritation. This self-trauma damages the skin's protective barrier, creating the perfect environment for bacteria to multiply. That's why it can grow surprisingly fast—sometimes within just 24 to 48 hours. An early intervention is important before a small irritated area develops into a larger, more painful skin lesion.
